Home Inspector Discovers Compressor Issues: On this particular home inspection we were doing, we noticed three things right off when inspecting the Air Compressor.
One – the air conditioner unit was leaning. The pad that it sits on had settled and when the unit isn’t level. The oil can separate and the compressor may operate without adequate lubrication.
Two – also noticed that this unit requires a maximum 30 amp breaker and
Three – they actually have a 50 amp breaker installed in the box.
They obviously changed the unit out and the newer units don’t require the amperage as the older units, so it looks like they didn’t update the breaker when they installed the new unit.
